Go With the Flow (An impromptu road trip in pictures...)

I took an impromptu trip to Rockport, Mass with Karen this past weekend.  Here's an old industrial building: great colors, textures and shadows.

Wonderful Clam Fritters (similar to Aunt Carries in Point Judith) from the Lobster Shack in Rockport, MA.

Whoops - Karen on her side. Maybe too much beer?

The view from our picnic table dinner. Love the blue checkered vinyl tablecloth.

The rock pools at Halibut Point, Rockport, MA

We had our feet in the water, but these people were serious!

The view from the path down to the rocks.  We both wished to be on the sailboat.

Halibut Point Quarry.  Lots of history and amazing engineering.

Lovely wooded path leading to the Quarry.  I could have hidden in the shade here all day!

The rocks provided many places to get down close to the ocean. I wish I had worn my suit.  I could have stayed here letting the water wash over me.

I love waking up with no plan, and by the end of the day having a spontaneous plan come together.  I love exploring new places and having no expectations.  I love that I can be happy no matter what happens.  I need to remember that.  I am adaptable.  I am adventurous.  I am fun loving.

Going with the flow always allows wonderful things to happen.  My new motto is available as a fun PDF here!

Act, As In...

I've been thinking a lot this year about choosing a WORD for the year.  And I've been stuck.  I was tossing around the idea of "Action", but realizing it was too broad.  So, I started looking more at the root, ACT.

ACT has so many meanings:
~ the doing of a thing;
~ a state of real existence rather than possibility;
~ a display of affected behavior.
But, the root is also an important part of other positive, active words.  Words like Impact, Attract, Practice, Interact, Action, Contact and Active.  All things I want for myself to do and be in 2011.
ACT:  So many things in my life I can "act" on.  Just do something, Jeanne!

Impact:
Make an impact in someone's life, for an organization you believe in, or even in your own life.

Take Action:
Clean that closet, protect that scared animal, finish that degree.

Attract:
Tell the universe what you want.  Ask for it.  Attract that which is yours already.

Make Contact:
Reach out to those you have lost or pushed away.  Contact those who you want to be more in your life.

Be Active:
Move, Run, Dance, Walk, Pose, Kayak, Hike, Snowshoe, Climb, Jump!

Interact:
Talk, listen, laugh, sing, joke, with everyone around you.  Meet someone new!

Practice:
Share your process.  Establish your practice. Do the things you don't do well over and over again.  Those things you do well like practice too!  Write more, create more, shoot more.  Practice, practice, practice.

I know that a lot of you are on the same journey I am.  Listening to all of the voices around us making changes, creating, and accomplishing.  We can be one of them.

Just for today, "Act" on something.  Anything.

Share one thing you would like to act on this week.  I'd like to know you are acting along with me.

If you like one of the images, you are welcome to click on it, and it will make it larger.  Then, just right click, and say "Save Image As".

Look Forward with Hope

Hope is a friend that I've been missing recently.  Hope moved out of my life when I had trouble finding work, when Mom was sick, and of course, when Mom died.  Hope is a fickle friend.  She visits occasionally, gets me all psyched up for something, and then leaves as quickly as she came.

But today, Hope is visiting and she seems to be lingering.  I've created a quick Hope meditation for you to use. (see download below).  I'll be back with more in New Year.

Sending you hope, peace and love for the New Year!

Freebie Anyone?

As you know, I went snowshoeing just before Christmas because we got a bunch of snow! I was so excited!

So, I've created a new desktop wallpaper for January 2010 for you to enjoy. I hope you use it and share it wherever you'd like! Just click on the photo and the large one will pop up. Just right click and say "Save as Desktop".

My Christmas was busy between trying to manage getting my mother out of rehab, getting her set up again at home, and being her taxi service to and from our Christmas celebrations. But, I had fun seeing the nieces and nephews open their presents. I think I heard a few "Awesome!" and "Cool" from the 7 year old, but not the 1 year olds! :) I did get a few babbles here and there though...

Today, I spent the morning trying to arrange more home care for Mom, and I had kind of a yucky phone call with her. I am angry with her and so all of my phone conversations when she is home and doing something I don't agree with, I end up saying things I shouldn't. I am sorry Mom. I wish I could separate my fear from my love for you. My greatest fear is that I haven't done enough for you, and when you fall or god forbid hurt yourself more than that, that I won't be able to forgive myself. And I am taking that out on you.

I am home today trying to plan out my next steps in life. No, I'm not doing the normal resolution thing for January 1st. I am writing a list of hopes and dreams for my life and the way I want it to be. There are no "I should" or "I need" statements on it. It is just a list of the way I envision things will be in my future, and I can't wait to have them come to fruition.

Want a preview? The list is much longer, but I want it to be pretty before I share the whole thing!

  • Children sitting in my lap as we read together
  • Holding hands with my lover as we walk in a snowstorm
  • Standing on the edge of Antarctica
  • Waking up on the beach in Nantucket
  • Running my first half-marathon

I hope your holidays were great. Drop me a line and share your dreams...
