Shutter Sisters is talking about bringing in light and hope during these long, dark winter days, especially today here in New England! Enough snow and clouds already! When I am stuck in the winter doldrums, I tend to look for colors in the world around me. Anything besides gray is good with me! So, here are some things that are bringing color and light into my winter world. :)

It's a Little Cold for a Bikini...
And you wouldn't catch me in one anyway!
But I couldn't resist
Running to the beach while I was dogsitting yesterday and today
It was freezing at Duxbury Beach
But beautiful

Winter in New England...
Have I told you how much I love winter?
Let me clarify...I don't always love the cold, but I do love the snow.
The brisk air of a walk in the snow,
the quiet of the streets just after a snowfall
and the weight of snow creaking on the limbs of the trees,
making snowmen, with scarves wrapped around their necks
snowball fights, with snow down my neck
itchy mittens and floofy earmuffs
and coming in from the cold to hot cocoa with marshmallows.
It's been quite a winter already here in Massachusetts. We've been blanketed with snow and cold temperatures since the New Year. Winter is a long season in New England, so I've learned sometimes you just have to embrace it!

Snow is in the Air!
I love snow. I love Winter! I woke up yesterday to 7 inches of snow here in the Boston area. I couldn't wait to get out of the house and into the weather so I took myself for a snowshoeless hike in the woods. Two hours later I made my way back to my car full of fresh air, rosy cheeks, calmness to the center of my being and a dead camera battery.
Want to join me on my hike? I thought of you the whole time... LOL

I am gearing up for Christmas now, prepping myself for the high level of family dysfunction I can expect. I find it is helpful to be prepared, and then hopefully everything will go better than I expect! I'll be doing the typical divorced kid Christmas... Christmas Eve with Mom, Christmas Day with Dad and lots of driving over the next few days. I am looking forward to watching my nieces and nephews open their presents (no adult presents this year) and some good food. I plan to rest up this weekend to recover and get ready for New Years! I can't believe we are already talking about New Years...
